The Magic Of Scripting

If you’re familiar with the law of attraction or the law of assumption, you’ve likely heard of something called Scripting. Scripting is a journaling manifestation technique where you write the story of whatever it is you want to manifest as if it’s already happened. In the midst of me writing this, a huge, almost scary manifestation happened from something I lightly, almost in a jokingly, scripted.

I ran around the house screaming because it was pretty big, so I am really writing this article passionately now because one, I already knew it worked, but wow, if ever I needed a reminder to believe in the power of scripting, this was it, loud and clear.

What Is Scripting?

So, what exactly is scripting, and how do you do it? Scripting specifically involves writing down your desires or goals as if they have already happened, in a detailed and descriptive manner. This practice is based on the belief that by vividly describing your desires in the present tense, you can more effectively attract them into your reality.

Who Should Use Scripting?

If you’re wondering whether scripting is for you, let me put it simply: If you’ve been chasing a goal with little to show for it, or if you’re simply looking for a fresh way to approach the desires you want to manifest, scripting is your new BFF.

And if you’re not a fan of writing, you don’t have to actually use a pen and paper. You can still type it out on your computer or smartphone. One of my biggest manifestations came from a script I wrote out in the notes section of my iPhone.

Mastering The Art Of Scripting

Starting your scripting journey is as simple as deciding what you wish to manifest. Whether it’s a day in your dream life, overcoming a personal challenge, or attracting love and abundance, here are steps to guide you:

Clarify What You Want

Let your imagination run wild, detailing your desires with as much precision and emotion as you can muster. If manifesting your dream life, describe a typical day including waking up, daily routine, living situation, and any pets or family. And it doesn’t have to just be one thing; you can script for multiple desires at once.

Since manifestation is like a muscle, and you can kind of build it and build your confidence with it, maybe try something small initially. Maybe start by scripting your day out and how you would like it to go each day. Do this for a week and see what happens. Try not to get overly specific, but add in little things like getting the best parking if that’s something that doesn’t normally happen for you, or script about finding money on the ground to kind of “test” the universe in a fun, loose way.

Ignore The How

Focus on the details and feelings, not the “how” of manifesting your desire. This is extremely important to avoid stressing yourself, resistance, and to avoid slowing your manifestation down. So for example, if you want to manifest a free trip to Paris, you could describe the specific details of your vacation, such as cute cafes in Paris or French breakfast, to focus on the desired experience.

But, don’t go into the fact that the trip was gifted to you by your Aunt Gertrude because she won the Pennsylvania Lottery Pick 3. You get the idea. Include as many details as possible about what you’re manifesting. Describe the situation, your feelings, the environment, and any other aspects that make it feel real, but always prioritize your emotional well-being, steering clear of specifics if they stir anxiety.

Add In Positive Emotion

Emphasize the positive emotions that would accompany the desired outcome. So, you would script out all of the things you desire plus the feeling having that would give you as you are experiencing it. These are a some options to get you started: Euphoria, Relief, Gratitude, Appreication, Excitement, Ease, Anticipation, Freedom, Relaxation, Safety.

Pen & Paper or Keyboard

Writing it down aids in the manifestation process, but it doesn’t matter what method you use. Those who do not enjoy writing might prefer typing it out on their computer. As I said, one of my biggest life manifestations came from a script I wrote using the notes section of my iPhone. Also, your scripts can be as long, short, detailed, or non-detailed as you want them to be. This is your life and experience and reality, and these are only guidelines.

Use The Power of Repetition

Read the script daily and fuel it with positive emotions. Repetition, reading it, and feeling these feelings over and over will speed up your desire manifesting. You may not even believe anything you are writing initially. But that’s okay. Keep going, keep feeling the feeling, and it will harden into fact. Things tends to manifest for me when I have forgotten about them, I am distracted, or I am not thinking about it at all. The things I have the least resistance to and care about the least manifest ridiculously quickly.

Revise If Necessary

It’s also okay to revise. Life is layered, nuanced, and fluid. It’s okay to change what you want hour to hour if you want. Sometimes things will happen that make you realize that the one thing you just had to have, is something you are now completely over. Always feel free to revise and update your scripts as your desires evolve. Even if it’s just to get more specific about what you want.

Detach

Believe or don’t believe, but definitely let go. As I said above, you may not believe anything you are writing initially. But, that’s okay. Keep going. Your subconscious mind will begin to shift and it will harden into fact. However, something that is crucial is to trust the process, and not become overly attached to the outcome. Letting go allows the universe to work its magic. When you are grasping or have your desire in a chokehold begging for it to just happen now, you are “offering the universe resistance”. This is akin to an extreme form of anxiety and doubt, and your current reality has no choice but to stay the same.

If you’re having difficulty being imaginative, here are some prompt questions to get you started:

  • What would you spend your time doing? How would your day go?
  • How would your priorities shift?
  • What would you stop doing?
  • What would you start doing?
  • How would you dress?
  • How would you eat?
  • What would your energy be like?
  • What would your thoughts and beliefs be?
  • Who would be there with you? How would they behave?

Next, attach a feeling to all of these things. You can use this emotional & feeling wheel if you have trouble naming specific emotions:

How Long Will It Take?

As I mentioned above, resistance is an important factor with how long it will take. The amount of time it takes depends on the amount of resistance you have to something, or if you have it on a pedestal. Technically, no one could really truly answer that question. The current school of thought with this is that you should not be focused on time, because if you embody the state, technically, your desire exists now.

I know that’s an annoying answer for some, but the reality is, it’s up to you. How quickly can you clear your subconscious, embody the state of who you want to be or having what you want, and stay in that space? Some say you could have it within minutes. I have seen things I scripted manifest within 10 minutes, some “bigger’ things took 6 months, and I know one for me that took 4 years.

Ideas For Scripting Locations

Finding the ideal place for scripting is a deeply personal journey, and depends on where you feel most inspired. Find a space that fosters a positive, calm, and focused mindset. This could vary widely, from the tranquility of a personal, quiet space like a home office or bedroom, to the inspiration found in nature, such as a serene garden or the calming presence of water. Regardless of the setting, the key elements include personal comfort, minimal distractions, and a positive energy that aligns with one’s intentions.

When To Script

As you start your new scripting practice, more questions may arise. Here’s the thing: scripting is as individual as you are. When setting new moon intentions, I really do recommend being in a good mood or positive vibration, but not so much with scripting. Some of my quickest results have manifested when I am scripting to “vent” and try to change the situation. Many times I have scripted while angry or out of frustration with a situation, and what I want happens very quickly.

If it feels good, you may want to script yourself out of a spiral, like when you need to self-soothe, or you want to be able to squash your anxiety about things. When I do this, since I know that scripting works so well, I feel like I no longer have to worry about whatever is causing me anxiety.

The frequency of scripting can vary depending on personal preference, goals, and how the practice fits into your overall manifestation routine. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer, as the effectiveness of scripting is more about the quality and intention behind the practice than the frequency. However, here are some guidelines to help you decide how often to script:

Daily

Some who use this technique do it as part of their daily morning routine. Each morning, I script and write in the past tense how my day went based on how I would like my day to go. Abraham Hicks talks about something similar that they call Segment Intending.

A “segment” is any part of your day where you shift from one activity to another. For example, waking up is a segment, driving to work is another segment, starting your workday is a segment, and so on. Each time you begin a new activity, you’re entering a new segment. Before the segment begins, they suggest taking a moment to clarify in your mind what you want to achieve or how you want to feel during this upcoming segment. This could be a state of being (e.g., “I want to feel joyful and productive during my work”), an action (e.g., “I intend to complete this project efficiently”), or an outcome (e.g., “I intend for this meeting to result in a positive collaboration”).

Weekly

A weekly scripting session allows for deeper reflection and can be a more sustainable routine for those with busy schedules. It gives you the opportunity to adjust your scripts based on new insights or shifts in your desires. But, doing it less often might make you feel less connected to what you want compared to doing it every day.

As Inspired

Scripting when you feel inspired or particularly drawn to the practice can ensure that your sessions are always filled with genuine emotion and desire, potentially making them more powerful. Without a regular schedule, you might find yourself scripting less often and lose focus.

The Fine Art Of Specificity In Scripting

Another question I’ve seen is whether you should write in the present tense. The only thing I really advise against is using “I will” as in “I will have a new car”. You want to manifest now. Using “will” is putting it into the future, and you want to embody the desired state of having it now.

So for example, “I wake up in my new home and I go make breakfast,” or “I woke up in my new home and made breakfast”. The first option uses the present tense, suitable for describing current or habitual actions.

For example, you want to become someone who makes your bed every day, meditates, and gets your workout done by six, you could use the present tense. You would want this to be a habitual action so you are describing it like something you do every day.

The second example, “I woke up in my new home and made breakfast”. uses the past tense, and works well for narrating events that occurred in the past. I generally use past tense for most of my scripting unless I am completely revising my life story. Using past tense will definitely come in handy if you’re scripting using the revision method.

Revision

The revision method, popularized by Neville Goddard, allows you to change the past by rewriting memories. This technique involves creating a new, positive version of a negative memory as if it actually happened. For example, if you’re haunted by an embarrassing moment or consistently face infidelity in relationships, you can script as though the embarrassing event never occurred or that you’ve always been treated with fidelity, love, and respect.

This approach aims to revise the past, clearing the negative “stories” you’ve been holding about yourself or others from your subconscious. This clearing allows you to manifest positive experiences without past negativity holding you back. If you were bullied, you could revise those memories to remember yourself as popular and confident instead, helping to manifest a new self-concept and boost your confidence and life outlook.

You can also use this method at the end of your day to revise any part that didn’t go as you wished. This technique allows you to end your day on a positive note, ready to manifest a brighter tomorrow.

Scripting To The Root Of The Issue

A method I often use, particularly for changing deep-seated subconscious habits, involves addressing the root of the “problem.” For instance, if your goal is weight loss but you struggle with a sugar addiction, script that you no longer crave sugar. Write out that you no longer eat Skittles and find pecan pie unappealing, while fresh strawberries become your new favorite. Describe the immense relief and joy of breaking free from sugar’s grip.

Similarly, if you aspire to be someone who exercises regularly but feel hindered by fatigue or lack of time, script that you have abundant energy and ample time for workouts. Write about how exercises like squats and pushups are activities you love.

It’s important to include how it feels in your script and to write in a way that sounds authentic to you. I sometimes add phrases like “ha ha” or “I just knew it would happen” to personalize my scripts.

Commit fully to your scripting. If it doesn’t cause anxiety or lead to overthinking, go ahead and add specific details. For example, if you’re manifesting winning the lottery and a certain amount of money, include practicalities like “after taxes.” Or, if you desire a new car, mention how effortlessly you managed to register it and how you easily cover expenses for insurance, registration, parking, and maintenance each month.

Why Does Scripting Hold Power?

Ultimately, it works because you are programming your subconscious. But, also because of the following:

Emotional Connection: Scripting encourages you to write about your desires with emotion and feeling, which is thought to strengthen the attraction process. The more real and emotional the scripting feels, the more powerful it is believed to be.

Frequency Alignment: The practice aligns your frequency with that of your desires. According to the Law of Attraction, like attracts like. By feeling and believing that your desires are already fulfilled, you align your energy with that reality.

Action Inspiration: Regularly scripting your desires can inspire you to take actions that lead you closer to your goals, often subconsciously.

Visualization: By writing down your desires, you’re forced to clarify what you truly want and visualize it in detail. This process helps to embed your desires into your subconscious mind.

Your Script, Your Story

Our lives are composed of the stories we tell about ourselves and others. This realization has profoundly impacted me recently, changing everything. I invite you to see scripting not merely as a technique but as an invitation to co-create with the universe. Experiment, reflect, and do what works best for you.

Consider how each session affects your mood, beliefs, and the manifestations you experience. Over time, you’ll discover the rhythm that most effectively supports your manifestation goals. Remember, this is your life, your experience, and your reality—these are merely guidelines. If you’d like to share your success story, please leave a comment below!
